Cyber criminals are advancing their methods, meaning Americans need better security.

New Year, New Passwords

A Friendly Reminder

I frequently mention on here that education is key to safety. You remember the 90s campaign, The More You Know. Well, that goes for everything. So what can we learn for cybersecurity this month?

For starters, experts are now recommending that you don’t need to change your password every 90 days. But then when should you change them? If not quarterly, at least twice a year. So let the New Year’s holiday be a reminder to switch up those passwords.

If you need some tips for updating, you can check out this Tech Talk post on updating passwords. And don’t forget a password manager for all those brand new passwords that you’re definitely not going to use for more than one login. (wink)

While you’re at it, why don’t you set a reminder in your calendar app to change them again around Independence Day? Keeping your passwords fresh is one step further in keeping yourself safe. And we definitely want you to stay safe out there!
