Disable the Windows 10 Login at Boot

By Dave Taylor

The Question:When I start up my laptop running Windows 10, I’d like to have it go straight to the Desktop, not require that I log in. Doable?

Dave’s Answer:

You can definitely disable the login feature on Windows 10 – Win10 – if it’s annoying, but I suggest that you don’t, actually. It’s intended to be another level of security for your system and can be beneficial, particularly with a laptop where there are often situations where someone else could use it while you’re not paying attention (for example, going to the bathroom while it sits on a table).

I recognize that entering a complex password can be a hassle too, however, so suggest that you consider setting up a simple PIN for logging in instead, something like the last four digits of your phone number, fast, easy but enough to foil most people who might otherwise exploit your system for their own gains (or just to be nosy!)

Still want to just axe the login completely? Well…. okay.
