Denny’s Hit Twice With Ransomware

Well known restaurant chain, Denny’s, was hit with ransomware for the second time…

In 2014, Denny’s has migrated to cloud-based technology, using Google Apps.  Since this transfer, the company has suffered a couple setbacks.  First, an employee accidentally wiped their entire Google Drive–yikes!  Secondly, an employee inadvertently falling victim to a ransomware attack, leading to that user’s data being completely unrecoverable.

After these issues, Denny’s determined they should enhance their backups.  Luckily, they did so just in time.  A second ransomware attack hit the restaurant chain; however thanks to their enhanced backup programming they were able to restore their systems without any issues.
