Anti Spyware Blues

If you’ve seen our previous coverage of spyware, you already know how untrustworthy the purveyors of this nefarious software can be — and how much of a danger malicious programs can pose to your PC. But waking up to the threats and resolving to protect yourself against them isn’t enough. You still have to keep your guard up, because even when it comes to anti-spyware software, there are companies that will try to take advantage of you. All over the Web you can find phony and ineffective anti-spyware products, suspect anti-spyware review sites, and misleading advertisements — including ads for suspect products that show up on sites you might otherwise trust.

No Vacation from Spyware

I‘m back after two great weeks on vacation in Rio de Janeiro. I love traveling internationally, but there is nothing like home. I honestly don’t think that I could travel for two weeks out of the country without the internet. Internet has definitely made the world a smaller and more easily accessible place.

What? It’s been six months since I updated my note at Pitstop? That can’t be, it seems like only yesterday……

It’s the end of 2002, and it’s been a great year for Pitstop. We were profitable each and every month of the year. And we are not resting on our laurels, we’ve been re-investing these profits right back into the business, to make a stronger and more powerful PC Pitstop.

Keep On Trucking: Strong Partnerships

For some reason, the song “Trucking” by the Grateful Dead keeps popping into my head as I write this note for the Pitstop site. What a long, strange trip it’s been! The Internet revolution has gone from the new economy to a series of dot-bomb catastrophes. Many terrific Web sites have come and gone, and PC Pitstop is still thriving. Wall Street invested in many crazy Internet schemes and waggled about first-mover advantages. They were so wrong. It’s really the last man standing that wins this game. The same can be said for virtually any business.

Holiday Shopping

HAPPY Holidays, everyone! In our family, each person makes a list of the gifts they would like to receive, and then my mom decides who needs to buy what for each person. We used to do it the old-fashioned way, but this way is so much better. Everyone gets what they want, and we can spend the day after Christmas enjoying each other’s company instead of running to the store to return gifts.
