Investigation into Chipotle Breach Continues
On April 25, 2017, Chipotle made a public statement explaining their payment systems had been breached. Since it is early into the investigation, the entire impact of the breach remains unknown. According to WTKR News, this is what had been confirmed,
- Unauthorized activity was found within the restaurant’s network, which housed their payment systems
- Suspected transactions that may be compromised are from March 24, 2017 to April 18, 2017
- The company is working with security firms and law enforcement to determine the magnitude of the breach
As additional details come to light, Chipotle stated they will be vigilant and notify all impacted customers. Store officials are hoping to pinpoint which locations were impacted, as well as specific time frames when transactions may have been compromised.
While the investigation continues, it is advised Chipotle customers, who visited any of the restaurant chain’s locations from March 24, 2017 to April 18, 2017, watch their credit/debit card statements.
