Infographic: Blacklist Vs. Whitelist with Fileless Malware Detection

Blacklist or Whitelist?  Which Keeps Your Data Safer?

Most of the security products on the market rely on a blacklist approach to detect and prevent malware.  But is it effective?  An alternative approach, application whitelisting, is also available.  However, which is better for you?  Follow the infographic below to learn more about the difference between the two.

Fileless Malware Threats

According to Tech Republic, fileless malware has become an “undetectable threat”.  However, is it really undetectable?  For most antivirus programs — yes.  But there’s a solution that will block that too.  Find out more below:

  3. I am older and not computer savy. Do you offer a service that stops viruses, malware, etc., and also provides a cleaner and keeps the computer automatically updated? Also provides easy live access to tech support that understands I don’t speak tech, I appreciate patience and am in need of much help with computer problem solving when one should arise. If you do, what is the fee. I do not want to be told later that now I need this protection and there will be another charge. I want a service that keeps my computer safe and running efficiently and provides courteous easy to access tech support.

Hi Sandra – PC Matic is an antivirus program that includes PC maintenance, optimization tools, software patch management, and cyber security training. We do have an online help desk, which is staffed seven days a week. If you have any issues or concerns with PC Matic, you would go to and submit a help desk ticket. Our staff would then reply via email with step by step instructions to assist.

    2. I am a senior myself and have experienced my computer crashing due to virus and Malware. Whatever you do, DO NOT GET AN ONLINE TECH SUPPORT!! THEY ARE SCAMMERS! Take you computer to a Staples, have them clean and check it, then have them install THE BEST PROGRAM THEY HAVE AGAINST VIRUSES AND HACKERS, AND MALWARE! YOU WON’T BE SORRY. I HAD TO BUY A NEW COMPUTER BECAUSE I IGNORED THE WARNING!

      1. While there are a bunch of online tech support scams around, not all support options are scammers.
Unfortunately stores like Staples or Office Depot too often install the antivirus software that is paying them the highest commission! Most simply slow down your computer by scanning against useless black lists.

  4. why should I have to pay to cover 5 computers when I live alone and only have one puter? that means I’m paying 50.00 for one computer and someone else is only paying 10.00 per computer.this is unfair to us older folks, please fix this problem,$29.95 would be okay.

      Hi William,
The five PCs do not have to be in the same house, so you could always share with friends or family. However, if you are not wanting to do that, we do offer PC Matic Home Security. It is free, and only includes the antivirus piece of PC Matic. Therefore, you will not get the optimization and maintenance features, or the free cyber security training, but you will still have the best protection available. You can check it out here:

Absolutely. You’ll need to go to the Google Play Store, download PC Matic for Android. Once it is downloaded, log into your PC Matic account through the app, and you’ll be all set!

  5. I like the way you’ve introduced this information. Visual content usually provides short and clearly understood information. The PC Matic seems to be very effective against viruses and I’m gonna give it a try.

    1. Judy, unfortunately we have not created an application for Apple’s iOS devices yet. Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Vickey, PC Matic currently only has an Android product. You can download it for your Android device by visiting the Google Play store and searching for PC Matic for Android. If you have any questions our support team is available 7 days a week at

I went on vacation for 2 weeks and when I came home and put my computer on I had a virus. It keeps saying:
    svhost.exe-no disk
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive/device/harddisk1/dr1.
Can you please tell me in simple terms how to get rid of this annoying popup. Thanks.

  8. The ridiculous picture explanation (which I could not be bothered to struggle through) assumes that your readers have IQ’s of children.
If you want to be taken seriously present all the facts so that potential customers can properly assess the likely problems, costs & risks.

Well infographics and the so-called PowerPoint Warrior are ways of presenting time consuming information in short clearly understood information through pictures and text. A picture is worth a thousand words. Remember, the information is not just going to Geeks, its going out to the everyday non-savvy computer end-user with little or no tech back ground. So, training aids like this are “top shelf” for doing things like this. Techies would be asleep at the first sentence of the infographic, but its not for [email protected]peter o:

      1. @Robert Fong Sr:
You are absolutely correct. I have interest in this topic but am very Tech challenged. I do not understand the intricacies of computer programs and/or computer-ese. Peter O needs to understand not every consumer is as “brilliant” as he is !
