FAQ: What is PC Pitstop?

PC Pitstop was founded in November 1999 by Rob Cheng and Dave Methvin with the sole purpose of creating a better way to diagnose common computer problems. We’ve released several products since then including Optimize, Disk MD, PC Magnum, Erase, Exterminate and most recently, PC Matic! PC Matic was released in 2009 with our whitelist protection Super Shield in 2011. If you see PC Pitstop or PC Matic in the news, they’re both in reference to our company. Sometimes writers will reference us by our product name PC Matic, or more formally by the company name PC Pitstop.

If you’re ever unsure about whether a product or service is associated with our company, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team and bring it to their attention. They will be able to inform you if it is legitimate or if it’s coming from a scammer claiming to work for us. You can submit a ticket to our team here: Support. You offer multiple products. Does one do it all, or does a person need more than one product, if so, which ones?

PC Matic is perfect for home users. The license key will work on up to five PCs. It includes antivirus protection with our global automated whitelist, PC optimization tools, automated maintenance, free cyber security training and adblocking technology.

Correct, you do not need to purchase Optimize with PC Matic, as PC Matic already has the optimization tools bundled in.
