When Will Windows 8 Be Available?

Speculation on a launch date abounds…however, most stories point to October 2012.

Windows 8 Upgrade Paths


  • *Windows 7 to Windows 8
    If your PC is currently running Windows 7 – you will qualify to download an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $39.99.

    A Windows 8 upgrade advisor will be available at windows.com – that will evaulate your system for Windows 8 readiness and process your upgrade purchase.

    This upgrade pricing will only be available from launch (still TBD) until Jan. 31, 2013.

  • *Windows Vista to Windows 8
    If your PC is currently running Windows Vista – you will qualify to download an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $39.99

    A Windows 8 upgrade advisor will be available at windows.com – that will evaulate your system for Windows 8 readiness and process your upgrade purchase.

    This upgrade pricing will only be available from launch (still TBD) until Jan. 31, 2013.

  • *Windows XP to Windows 8
    If your PC is currently running Windows XP – you will qualify to download an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $39.99

  • Eligible for an upgrade, but don’t want to download?

    If you prefer to get your upgrade on a packaged DVD – this version of Windows 8 Pro will be available for $69.99.

    Buy a New PC

    If you purchase a new PC between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013 – you will be eligible for a $14.99 upgrade to Windows 8.
