PC Matic Analysis

Purpose: IRMON.EXE - Tray icon that shows the status of an infrared connection. Generally found on notebook PCs. Very few notebooks ever use infrared connections, and the icon is generally useless. To make the icon go away, go to Control Panel | Wireless Link and clear the check box next to "Display an icon on the taskbar". (Infrared functionality will still work if you need it.)
