Energy management and automation company Schneider Electric was hit by a ransomware attack, resulting in corporate data theft that mainly affected its Sustainability Business division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack disrupted Schneider Electric’s Resource Advisor cloud platform, which continues to experience outages. The ransomware gang responsible has reportedly stolen terabytes of corporate data and is demanding a ransom, threatening to leak the information if not paid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The affected division, known for providing consulting services on renewable energy solutions and assisting with climate regulatory compliance, serves clients such as Allegiant Travel Company, Clorox, DHL, DuPont, Hilton, Lexmark, PepsiCo, and Walmart. The stolen data could potentially include sensitive information related to customers’ power utilization, industrial control systems, and adherence to environmental and energy regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cactus ransomware operation, launched in March 2023, has been linked to numerous cyberattacks on companies. These attacks involve breaching corporate networks, stealing data, encrypting files, and conducting double-extortion attacks by demanding a ransom for a file decryptor and a promise not to leak the stolen data. Over 80 companies are currently listed on Cactus’ data leak site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
