The Luzerne County Courthouse was hit with ransomware<\/a> on May 25, 2019. The exact ransomware variant that infiltrated their networks has not been disclosed, nor has the ransom demand. However, the county’s IT staff has been working tirelessly to rebuild the networks, and hope to have them back to full capacity this week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the exact variant isn’t being disclosed, county officials do believe the attack was executed from an employee clicking on a malicious link within an email. In an effort to avoid something like this happening again, courthouse staff will partake in cyber security training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
