{"id":60236,"date":"2019-02-13T15:01:55","date_gmt":"2019-02-13T21:01:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/?p=60236"},"modified":"2019-02-13T15:01:55","modified_gmt":"2019-02-13T21:01:55","slug":"gmail-detection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/gmail-detection\/","title":{"rendered":"GMail&#8217;s Detection is Off Leaving Legitimate Emails in Spam\/Junk Folders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Do you ever check your spam or junk folders?\u00a0 I do not.\u00a0 Or should\u00a0I say, I didn&#8217;t until recently.\u00a0 About a month ago, I got an email from a fellow co-worker stating someone had reached out to both of us, but it went into her spam folder instead of her inbox.\u00a0 I checked, and it happened to me as well.\u00a0 This was surprising considering the email was coming from a third-party both my colleague and myself had worked closely with, corresponding via email on multiple occasions.\u00a0 It remains unclear why GMail\u00a0flagged this particular email as spam, but it did.<\/p>\n<p>I thought it was just a fluke thing.\u00a0 After all, we cannot expect perfection.\u00a0 However, the problem may be bigger than just a &#8220;fluke&#8221;.\u00a0 Yesterday, I was on the phone with Rob, when he mentioned having something similar happen to him in the last few days with emails from two different people.\u00a0 These were not new email addresses his account had never seen before.\u00a0 He had actually reached out to them, and their responses got &#8220;spammed&#8221;.\u00a0 So, what&#8217;s the deal?<\/p>\n<p>No one seems to know.\u00a0 But what is clear is, GMail&#8217;s detection is off.<\/p>\n<h4>The Lesson<\/h4>\n<p>Check your junk and\/or spam folders.\u00a0 If you email someone and are expecting to hear back, or should be receiving some sort of correspondence and haven&#8217;t received it &#8212;
