Pushes Systems Offline for Texan Town"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Texan Town Suffers Ransomware Attack<\/h3>\n<p>The City of Del Rio,\u00a0Texas was infected with ransomware on January 10, 2018.\u00a0 This cyber attack led to servers at City Hall being disabled and all city departments losing internet access.\u00a0 This left employees\u00a0unable to log into the systems, meaning all electronic services were at a standstill.\u00a0 Fortunately, city employees were able to maintain operations, by completing job duties the old-fashion way &#8212; with a pen and paper.<\/p>\n<p>City officials have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofdelrio.com\/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=523\">reported<\/a> the cyber attack to the FBI and are working to resolve the situation as quickly and painlessly as possible.\u00a0 The City is asking for patience from the public while they work to get systems back online.<\/p>\n<p>At this time, a few things remain unclear.\u00a0 First, no one has disclosed what ransomware variant infected the City of Del Rio&#8217;s systems.\u00a0 It also remains uncertain how officials plan to restore systems &#8212; meaning, if they have backup files available or if they&#8217;re entertaining the thought of paying the hacker&#8217;s undisclosed ransom demands.\u00a0 Lastly, since the city is still in remediation mode, they have yet to investigate if the attack led to the exposure of employee and\/or customer data.<\/p>\n<h4>Other Attacks<\/h4>\n<p>We created an interactive map, see below, of the ransomware attacks that have taken place in the U.S.<br
