Mind and Motion Developmental Centers of Georgia was a victim of ransomware in September 2018.\u00a0 Not only did the hackers infect the system with and unknown ransomware variant, but they also installed various other forms of malware that breached the security of approximately 16,000 patient files.\u00a0 The data exposed included names, addresses, medical records, and Social Security numbers.<\/p>\n
After a full investigation, it was determined the malware did not spread<\/a> into different networks within the Mind and Motion systems.<\/p>\n As a result of the breach, officials have changed all passwords and required advanced security measures while creating new passwords.\u00a0 In addition, all employees will complete HIPPA compliance training.<\/p>\n For a list of ransomware attacks that have already taken place in 2018, you may click here<\/a>.
