KWQC News<\/a>, scam artists are calling customers, claiming to be from the FTC.\u00a0 The hackers claim to be issuing major refunds.\u00a0 But there is a catch.\u00a0 First, you must allow them access to your computer.\u00a0 Why would they need that?\u00a0 To scam you.<\/p>\nIf the FTC is offering a legitimate refund, they want to be sure customers understand two things.\u00a0 First, they will never need access to your computer to process the refund.\u00a0 Also, they will never charge you for your refund.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, many people are naive to these scams, and often fall victim.\u00a0 If you receive a call claiming to be from the FTC, and they request remote access to your computer, hang up immediately.\u00a0 Also, if you suspect it is a scammer, do not use any words or phrases expressing agreement, such as “I accept”, “Yes”, “Yea, that’s fine”, etc.\u00a0 At times, scammers will record the calls, then use the recordings to claim authorization for various transactions.<\/p>\n
