Pennsylvania City Offices Struggle After Malware Riddles Systems<\/h3>\n

An unknown malware variant recently took down the city offices of Allentown, Pennsylvania.\u00a0 The malware attack was out of the realm of the city’s IT department, leaving them with few options.\u00a0 It was reported<\/a>, city officials contacted Microsoft and ended up paying the company $185,000, in an attempt to fix the issue.\u00a0 Although not everything is fully operational, the city is moving in the right direction.<\/p>\n

The issues are still not completely fixed, but they are moving in the right direction.\u00a0 Some systems remain offline until the IT team is certain the malware has been removed, to prevent further spread of the virus.<\/p>\n

To avoid falling victim again, the city is reviewing what lead to the malware infection.\u00a0 City Council members are also encouraging cyber security training for city employees, as this could have been a result of someone clicking on a malicious link.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
