Just yesterday we reported<\/a> on the third South Carolina school district that has been infected with ransomware in the past year.\u00a0 Now, Spartanburg County Library has disclosed they too have been hit with ransomware.\u00a0 Due to the ransomware infection, checking out books has been proven difficult.\u00a0 It is unclear what malicious variant infected the systems, although the hackers have requested a large ransom.\u00a0 According to WSPA News 7<\/a>, the hackers have demanded a payment of $35,000 to unlock the library’s files.\u00a0 Whether or not the ransom demands will be met, has not been confirmed.\u00a0\u00a0However, officials have said they are working on restoring the systems.<\/p>\n For a list of ransomware attacks that have already taken place in 2018, you may click here<\/a>.
