Ransomware recently took down the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s website.\u00a0 The infection was reported earlier this month, and it took 11 days for the website to be restored.\u00a0 The ransomware variant and ransom demands were not released.\u00a0 However, officials reported<\/a> they were able to restore systems using their backup files.\u00a0 While the systems were down,\u00a0businesses and individuals were unable to apply online for licenses for livestock, pesticides, horse stables and more.\u00a0 Although, these businesses and individuals were able to renew or apply for these licenses by phone.<\/p>\n Ransomware also infected the offices of Golden Optometrics.\u00a0 The optometry clinic that was infected is located in West Covina, California.\u00a0 According to the facilities statement, the malicious software infiltrated a limited number of files on the local system.\u00a0 Therefore, it is not believed the Whittier office was impacted.\u00a0 Officials reported<\/a>, they were able to restore the systems using backup files.\u00a0 It is not believed any of the data encrypted was stolen; however, the facility is notifying patients of the infection.<\/p>\n To see a full list of ransomware attacks that have taken place this year, you can click here<\/a>.
