The City of Spring Hill was hit with an unknown ransomware variant last Friday.\u00a0 After encrypting the city’s files, the hackers demanded $250,000 to restore the systems.\u00a0 City officials reported they contacted the appropriate law enforcement and chose not to pay the ransom.\u00a0 Instead they are going to restore the systems, to the best of their ability, on their own.<\/p>\n
