Ransomware, the malicious software that locks files until a payment demand is made, has recently hit Greenway Health, located in Carrollton, Georgia. \u00a0Greenway Health is an electronic health records vendor. \u00a0Total, they serve over 75,000 different healthcare facilities.<\/p>\n
The ransomware strike occurred last week; however, some of the Greenway Health users are still unable to access their records. \u00a0Meaning they have reverted back to a manual process. \u00a0It is expected, all of the systems will be restored by the end of business today. \u00a0The ransomware attack impacted an estimated 5% of Greenway Health electronic health record users.<\/p>\n
The ransomware variant was not disclosed, nor was the ransom demand. \u00a0However, Greenway Health is confident no information was stolen during the ransomware attack.<\/p>\n
