Breach of GameStop Website Leaves Customers Exposed<\/h4>\n

GameStop recently released their website has been breached, leaving consumer data exposed. \u00a0According to WGME News<\/a>, the breach only impacts consumers who made online purchases through the company’s website from September of 2016 to February of 2017. \u00a0The data exposed includes customer’s names, credit and debit card numbers, expiration dates and security codes.<\/p>\n

Krebs on Security<\/a> shared a piece of GameStop’s official<\/a> statement regarding this matter,<\/p>\n

\u201cWe regret any concern this situation may cause for our customers. \u00a0GameStop would like to remind its customers that it is always advisable to monitor payment card account statements for unauthorized charges. If you identify such a charge, report it immediately to the bank that issued the card because payment card network rules generally state that cardholders are not responsible for unauthorized charges that are timely reported.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

At this time, the number of potential accounts that were leaked is not being reported. \u00a0It is also rather surprising that the company is not providing some kind of credit monitoring service for those impacted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
