{"id":56543,"date":"2017-03-01T09:44:45","date_gmt":"2017-03-01T15:44:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/?p=56543"},"modified":"2017-03-01T09:44:45","modified_gmt":"2017-03-01T15:44:45","slug":"accessing-enabling-airplane-mode-laptops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/accessing-enabling-airplane-mode-laptops\/","title":{"rendered":"Accessing and Enabling Airplane Mode on Laptops"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Accessing Airplane Mode<\/h4>\n<p>Airplane mode is a setting available on smart phones, tablets, laptops, and other portable devices. \u00a0The setting will disable WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth. \u00a0This not only makes the devices safe to use while flying, but will also significantly increase battery life.<\/p>\n<p>If you plan to travel soon, I would encourage you to become familiar with how to access the airplane mode setting.<\/p>\n<p>There are two ways to access this feature.<\/p>\n<p>The first is to\u00a0access your Settings. \u00a0You can do so by searching for &#8220;Settings&#8221; in the search bar by the Start menu, or access Settings within the Start menu. \u00a0Upon doing so, you&#8217;ll see this screen:<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-56544 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/settings-networks.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1003\" height=\"666\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/settings-networks.png 1003w, https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/settings-networks-768x510.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1003px) 100vw, 1003px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click on &#8220;Network &amp; Internet Settings&#8221; shown above. \u00a0Once you do so, the following screen will populate:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-56545 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/airplane-mode.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1009\" height=\"765\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/airplane-mode.png 1009w, https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/airplane-mode-768x582.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1009px) 100vw, 1009px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click on &#8220;Airplane mode&#8221; in the left menu bar. \u00a0This will bring up the following options:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-56546 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/airplane-toggle.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1006\" height=\"627\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/airplane-toggle.png 1006w, https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/airplane-toggle-768x479.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1006px) 100vw, 1006px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To turn on the airplane mode setting, you will simply need to slide the option to &#8220;On&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The second option, is to click on the WiFi icon in your task bar on the bottom, right corner of your screen, as shown below.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-56547 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/airplane-shortcut.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"330\" height=\"113\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once you click on it, it will bring up your current WiFi connection, as well as other WiFi connection options. \u00a0At the bottom, it will have a WiFi option and Airplane mode option. \u00a0You can easily switch between airplane mode and WiFi by using this shortcut.<\/p>\n<p>As a reminder, enabling this setting disables WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. \u00a0Before putting the device on airplane mode, ensure you have everything done online that you need to do.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Accessing Airplane Mode Airplane mode is a setting available on smart phones, tablets, laptops, and other portable devices. \u00a0The setting will disable WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth. \u00a0This not only makes the devices safe to use while flying, but will also significantly increase battery life.
