{"id":56444,"date":"2017-02-14T14:04:39","date_gmt":"2017-02-14T20:04:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/?p=56444"},"modified":"2017-02-17T07:54:42","modified_gmt":"2017-02-17T13:54:42","slug":"google-finds-hot-water","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/google-finds-hot-water\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Finds Themselves In Hot Water After Courts Rule Against Them"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Good Thing Google Has Deep Pockets&#8230;<\/h4>\n<p>The search engine tycoon, Google, was recently ordered to pay $20 million after the courts found they infringed on four different <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.es\/patents\/USRE43528\">anti-malware patents<\/a>.\u00a0 The infringement involved the development of the company&#8217;s popular web browser, Chrome.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/google\/2017\/02\/14\/google-anti-malware-patent-chrome\/#.tnw_bX1SidvZ\">The Next Web<\/a>, the suit originated in 2013 after Alfonso Cioffi and, the now-deceased Lucent engineer, Allen Rozman filed for patent infringement.\u00a0 The case was\u00a0eventually was escalated to the Federal courts.\u00a0 The final ruling was provided on Friday, February 10, 2017.\u00a0 Google tried to\u00a0appeal the ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court, but that action was denied.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sure Google isn&#8217;t\u00a0happy about forking over that kind of dough, but it won&#8217;t break the bank, considering the company&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/GOOGL\/financials?p=GOOGL\">2016 net income topped $19.5 billion<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0The news also\u00a0hasn&#8217;t appeared to have any kind of long standing impact on their shareholders either.\u00a0 Over the last five days, Google <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/GOOGL?p=GOOGL\">stock shares have increased <\/a>by roughly 1.5%.\u00a0 The company has experienced a few dips in market value, but nothing that they haven&#8217;t bounced back from within hours.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good Thing Google Has Deep Pockets&#8230; The search engine tycoon, Google, was recently ordered to pay $20 million after the courts found they infringed on four different anti-malware patents.\u00a0 The infringement involved the development of the company&#8217;s popular web browser, Chrome.
