University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL) Hacked<\/h4>\n

News broke today of a security breach that occurred at the University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL), leaving thousands of student records exposed.\u00a0 According to KETV<\/a> of Omaha, the breach was isolated to one server which was tied to a mathematical placement test.\u00a0 For 30,000 current and former students, their names, grades and student IDs have been compromised.<\/p>\n

At this time there is no confirmation that the information obtained by the cyber criminals is being used maliciously.\u00a0 Also, since no critical personal data was exposed, the university is not offering any form of credit monitoring services.\u00a0 They did however, encourage students to reset their passwords, and keep a close eye on the activity of their student IDs.<\/p>\n

UNL officials made the following public statement,<\/p>\n

“We are sorry that your personal information may have been subject to unauthorized access and we have taken measures to ensure that this situation is not repeated. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information and takes many precautions to monitor and safeguard the security of its computers and personal information.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
