{"id":55057,"date":"2016-11-03T20:40:49","date_gmt":"2016-11-03T20:40:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/?p=55057"},"modified":"2016-11-04T22:36:53","modified_gmt":"2016-11-04T22:36:53","slug":"adroid-devices-risk-fake-adobe-flash-player-app-installs-malware","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/adroid-devices-risk-fake-adobe-flash-player-app-installs-malware\/","title":{"rendered":"Android Devices at Risk After Fake Adobe Flash Player App Installs Malware"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>A fake Adobe Flash Player being installed on Android devices is spreading malware like wildfire.<\/h3>\n<p>When Android users download this malicious application, an &#8220;Activate Device Administrator&#8221;\u00a0popup displays.\u00a0 At this point, they are either damned if they do and damned if they don&#8217;t.\u00a0 By clicking cancel, the message just repopulates.\u00a0 Once the user hits &#8220;Activate&#8221;, the Trojan is given administrative rights.\u00a0 The popup then disappears; however, the Trojan is still active.<\/p>\n<p>However, there is good news.\u00a0 According to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hackread.com\/android-malware-flash-player-app-banks-social-media\/\"> Hack Read<\/a>, <strong>the Trojan can be manually removed by going to: Settings&gt;Security&gt;Device Administrators&gt;Google Play Services&gt;Deactivate.\u00a0 Once the administrative rights are deactivated, the user can find the Flash Player update and delete it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is imperative users delete this as soon as they realize they have become infected.\u00a0 The malware has capabilities to access various major applications within your cellular devices, such as Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, Twitter and Viper.\u00a0 Also, it has targeted over 90 mobile banking applications.\u00a0 Meaning, it can create a fake login window for your mobile banking to obtain your login credentials.\u00a0 Lastly, the malware has the ability to intercept your SMS messages.\u00a0 Which not only impacts your SMS messaging, but also any two-factor authentication that uses SMS messaging.<\/p>\n<p>Again, if you have been infected, please follow the bolded steps above to remove the Trojan before additional damage is done.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A fake Adobe Flash Player being installed on Android devices is spreading malware like wildfire.
