Brainerd Dispatch<\/a> reported Crow Wing County in Minnesota was hit with ransomware earlier this month.\u00a0 The County Administrator, Tim Houle, reported the recovery was far better than expected.<\/p>\n The ransomware variant that encrypted the county’s files is unknown; however luckily, the county had backed up the targeted files the day prior to the attack.\u00a0 Using their backup files, they were able to get their systems back up and running without having to pay the ransom demand.<\/p>\n To see a full list of ransomware attacks that have taken place, you can click here<\/a>.\u00a0 We have also created a ransomware map, see below, of the ransomware attacks that have taken place in the U.S. this year.
