The Palmhurst Police Department has finished recovering from a recent ransomware attack.\u00a0 The ransomware variant was not disclosed; however they did receive a ransom demand of roughly $250 USD.\u00a0 The authorities reported they did not pay the ransom, and took the time to get their systems up and running by using their back up systems.<\/p>\n
Ransomware is a malicious software that encrypts the victims files, making them inaccessible.\u00a0 Then, the cyber criminals send a ransom note to the victims making a demand for a payment to decrypt the victim’s files.<\/p>\n
