Data Solutions recently compiled some interesting data regarding ransomware fears…<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

Irish Times<\/a>\u00a0reported on a ransomware study completed by\u00a0Data Solutions.\u00a0 The survey reported\u00a093% of the organizations would not pay the ransom demand following a ransomware attack.\u00a0 This is great news.\u00a0 But is it accurate?\u00a0 Too often it is easy to say one thing, and do the other when the situation arises.\u00a0 After digging into the additional statistics a bit further, we found that there were two major fears organizations had pertaining to a ransomware attack.\u00a0 First, the potential damage reputation.\u00a0 Second, the lost data.\u00a0 Would these fears cause businesses to quickly pay to keep the attack quiet and get back to business as usual as soon as possible?\u00a0 Perhaps.\u00a0 Which is why businesses need to mitigate the risk of a ransomware attack.<\/p>\n

How can this be done?\u00a0 A majority of respondents shared they have upgraded their security measures, with another 5% reporting spending more on security in 2016 than in 2015.\u00a0 However, we all know money can’t always provide the best protection.\u00a0 Only 10% of organizations reported feeling confident in their security measures.\u00a0 So what needs to be done differently?<\/p>\n

Better protection.\u00a0 The use of application whitelisting<\/a> is becoming more and more popular, due to its advanced protection methods.<\/p>\n

PC Matic Pro<\/a> suggests businesses adopt application whitelisting, back up their data on a daily basis, and implement patch management programming to ensure all applications and operating systems stay updated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
