Initial reports say the Kansas Heart Hospital was impacted with ransomware, and paid the ransom to regain access to their files.\u00a0 Unfortunately this was not enough for the hackers.\u00a0 They ended up coming back and demanding more money.\u00a0 The hospital refused to pay more, and is now working on enhancing their computer security.<\/p>\n
KFDI <\/a>reported the files encrypted were not patient files.\u00a0 Another television station, KWCH<\/a>,\u00a0was unable to report the amount the hospital paid in the initial ransom demand, as it is an ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n The other hospital ransomware hit that took place\u00a0last week was DeKalb Health<\/a>.\u00a0 It is unreported if DeKalb paid the ransom amount.<\/p>\n
