Leo weighs the pros &#038; cons.&#8211;PC Pitstop<\/i><\/font>.<\/i><\/font><\/p>\n<h4>Pros and Cons of Hard Drive Partitioning<\/h4>\n<p>By Leo Notenboom<\/p>\n<p><em>What are the benefits of a partitioned hard drive, or some practical uses of a partition?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Disk partitioning is one of those things where you find many conflicting opinions. Some will swear that proper partitioning aids performance, makes backing up easier and is just generally \u201cbetter\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Others just opt to let Windows sort it all out, believing that improper partitioning might well prevent the file system \u2013 already optimized for both safety and performance \u2013 from operating in a maximally optimal way.<\/p>\n<p>The truth is somewhere in between.
