The Internet Never Forgets<\/h4>\n

The right to be forgotten is a misleading and ineffectual technique to prevent people from finding information on the internet. Bottom line: it can’t work.<\/p>\n

The European Union\u2019s highest court recently ruled that search engines, namely Google and maybe Bing, need to honor requests from individuals to be removed from their search indexes in support of a concept known as \u201cthe right to be forgotten\u201d.<\/p>\n

There are many ethical, political and moral discussions that are happening around the topic right now. While I certainly have opinions in those realms, I want to take a look at it from a purely practical point of view.<\/p>\n

That view?<\/p>\n

It just can\u2019t work.<\/p>\n
