{"id":46281,"date":"2013-11-04T18:45:59","date_gmt":"2013-11-04T18:45:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/?p=46281"},"modified":"2013-11-04T18:45:59","modified_gmt":"2013-11-04T18:45:59","slug":"dell-laptops-stink","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pcmatic.com\/blog\/dell-laptops-stink\/","title":{"rendered":"Dell Offers to Fix Stinky Laptops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h4>Dell Offers to Fix Stinky Laptops <\/h4>\n<blockquote><p>Owners of a certain model of Dell laptop have been subjected to very unpleasant \u201ccat urine\u201d odours emanating from their new machines.<\/p>\n<p>The powerful odour is \u201cnot at all health hazard\u201d and seems to have been caused by a \u201cmanufacturing process that has now been changed,\u201d according to SteveB, a senior technical consultant for Dell <a href=\"http:\/\/en.community.dell.com\/support-forums\/laptop\/f\/3518\/p\/19512174\/20459364.aspx%2320459364\" target=\"_blank\">posting on the company\u2019s support forums<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Dell was first made aware of the issue in June 2013 when a Dell user called \u201cthree west\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/en.community.dell.com\/support-forums\/laptop\/f\/3518\/t\/19512174.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">first posted about the smell<\/a> of a new Dell Latitude E6430u saying \u201cthe machine is great, but it smells as if it was assembled near a tomcat&#8217;s litter box. It is truly awful! It seems to be coming from the keyboard\u201d.&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2013\/oct\/30\/dell-laptop-cat-pee-urine-smell-latitude-e6430u\" target=\"_blank\">The Guardian<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4>The Fix<\/h4>\n<blockquote><p>\nDell has now announced that anyone affected by the problem can call <strong>1-800-456-3355<\/strong> or visit <a href=\"www.dell.com\/support\" target=\"_blank\">www.dell.com\/support<\/a> to report the fault.
