While I can\u2019t guarantee your PC will lose power at a more convenient time, I can offer 14 ways to improve your battery life. Learn, in this guide, how to save power when running on batteries.<\/p>\n<p><em>Note: This guide is written for Windows 7 but most tips apply for Windows Vista<\/em><\/font><\/p>\n<h3>Save Battery Power<\/h3>\n<p>Here are some ways to save your battery\u2019s power. You don\u2019t need to apply all these tips but every little helps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Turn Down Screen Brightness<\/strong><br \/>\nTo turn down screen brightness, click the battery icon in the system tray and click Adjust screen brightness.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"turn down screen brightness\" src=\"http:\/\/mintywhite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/battery-life-3.png?c3a98b\" title=\"turn down screen brightness\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"261\" height=\"285\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Slide the brightness slider to the left until you can comfortably see the screen and it\u2019s dimmest setting.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/mintywhite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/battery-life-4.png?c3a98b\" title=\"extend battery life 4\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"335\" height=\"55\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Cut Down on Background Applications<\/strong><br \/>\nMany background applications don\u2019t need to run and only increase CPU cycles and, in turn, the demand on your battery. Here\u2019s a couple of things you can do to cut down on background applications:<\/p>\n<p><strong>2a. Disable Windows Sidebar Gadgets<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you don\u2019t use the sidebar, you probably have it disabled already (right click the Windows Sidebar icon in the system tray and click Exit.)<\/p>\n<p>If you use the Windows Sidebar, do you really need all your gadgets running when you\u2019re on battery power? To disable Windows Sidebar gadgets:<\/p>\n<p>Click the Start button and click Control Panel. Type gadget in the top-right search box, and click View list of running gadgets.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/mintywhite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/battery-life-1.png?c3a98b\" title=\"battery life 5\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"590\" height=\"257\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next to the running gadgets, click remove.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/mintywhite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/battery-life-2.png?c3a98b\" title=\"battery life 6\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"544\" height=\"173\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>2b.
