One was it took resources to have that icon in the system tray and two it created a lot of clutter on the screen.<\/p>\n<p>In Windows 7 management of those icons and notifications are within your control with the Notification Area Icons settings app in the Control Panel.<\/p>\n<p>You can quickly access these settings by simply typing notification in your Start Menu search box.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn.windowsobserver.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/systrayiconsettingsmenuitem_thumb.png\" title=\"systray\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"280\" height=\"83\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Anyone of those three items that come up will get you to the same control panel app.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn.windowsobserver.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/systrayiconsettings_thumb.png\" title=\"systray2\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"244\" height=\"139\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.windowsobserver.com\/2010\/02\/28\/manage-your-system-tray-icons-and-notifications\/\" target=\"_blank\">Article Continued Here<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>This post is excerpted with permission from Windows Observer.<\/p>\n<p><i><font SIZE=\"1\">PC Pitstop is proud to welcome our friends at Windows Observer as guest contributors.
