What they\u2019re really doing is trying to appear as if they\u2019re doing something to address major privacy concern from customers and privacy organizations. Even <a title=\"http:\/\/technologizer.com\/2010\/05\/28\/new-facebook-privacy\/\" href=\"http:\/\/technologizer.com\/2010\/05\/28\/new-facebook-privacy\/\">Harry McCracken at Technologizer<\/a>, says <em>\u201cBottom line: Managing your Facebook privacy is still a remarkably convoluted process which isn\u2019t explained clearly enough.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Many of my friends received new Facebook settings on the first night but not everyone.&#160; I received one change however that baffled me. It seems that any post I made on my wall was set to be seen by \u201cOnly Me\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billp.com\/blog\/images\/CanFacebookbeTrusted_1430D\/fbstupid1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"fbstupid1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"fbstupid1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.billp.com\/blog\/images\/CanFacebookbeTrusted_1430D\/fbstupid1_thumb.jpg\" width=\"484\" height=\"121\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>It seemed like Facebook was saying \u201cScrew you privacy advocates\u201d by changing the default settings for wall posts to \u201cOnly Me\u201d. <em>\u201cThere you go, want privacy? Now nobody can see what you post\u201d. <\/em>I can\u2019t imagine why this would even be an option let alone the default.<\/p>\n<p>If I clicked on the padlock I was able to change it so my posts could be seen by \u201cFriends Only\u201d which was my normal settings.&#160; Unfortunately, I had to change this setting for each post I made.&#160; <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billp.com\/blog\/images\/CanFacebookbeTrusted_1430D\/fbstupid2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"fbstupid2\" border=\"0\" alt=\"fbstupid2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.billp.com\/blog\/images\/CanFacebookbeTrusted_1430D\/fbstupid2_thumb.jpg\" width=\"484\" height=\"284\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When I clicked on Customize I was able to tell Facebook I wanted to change my default but it took four times before it would stick. These changes or bug appeared before the new security settings were rolled out to my account.<\/p>\n<p>Plenty of people are doing articles about the new Facebook settings but I\u2019m really asking the fundamental question.&#160;
