Adobe Chrome Extension for Security Update.

Adobe Sneaks Browser Add-Ons Into Chrome Extensions Security Update

Adobe Chrome Extension Security Update. Google Chrome users may have noticed that after the latest Adobe Reader update there was a new extension in their browser. This was not a coincidence.

Programs like Adobe and Java have been known to sneak browser add-ons and other bloat into their security updates. It appears that this time Adobe took aim at the Chrome browser.

Inside the latest security patch for Adobe Reader DC (15.023.20053) were numerous security patches. It included a new Chrome extension for Adobe Acrobat. This install was done silently in the background without prompting the user about the additional software they were about to install.

Luckily, Chrome has a good defense in place, alerting users to a new extension being added and allowing them to disable and remove it before it can stick around too long.
