North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources Struck With Ransomware

Impact of ransomware was able to be mitigated due to fast acting respondents…

Just last week ransomware struck the Department of Mineral Resources in North Dakota.  However, thanks to the fast actions once identifying there was an issue, they were able to isolate the infection.

The Department backs up their data through an external source.  Therefore, they were able to restore their systems without paying the $350 demand made by hackers.  Within 24 hours of the attack, the Department’s systems were up and running as usual.
