ransomware 1

The files end in .doc, docx, and .docm. The “M” stands for macro, which, when executed, will start the infection.  Therefore, it is very important that users DO NOT click on “Enable Macros” under any condition, as these can trigger malware infections.

It should be noted that other malicious attacks are using these tactics as well.  It is incredibly important for users to think before they click.  As stated above, these tactics are being used via email attachments.  Before you open emails, think about who is sending them and if you are expecting the email.  If you are ever in question, call the sender to find out if they indeed meant to send the email.  If you do not know the sender, delete the correspondence immediately.
