Kansas Heart Hospital Struck With Ransomware

In one week, there have been two more hospitals hit with ransomware.  This time it was Kansas Heart Hospital.  Find out the impacts now…

Initial reports say the Kansas Heart Hospital was impacted with ransomware, and paid the ransom to regain access to their files.  Unfortunately this was not enough for the hackers.  They ended up coming back and demanding more money.  The hospital refused to pay more, and is now working on enhancing their computer security.

KFDI reported the files encrypted were not patient files.  Another television station, KWCH, was unable to report the amount the hospital paid in the initial ransom demand, as it is an ongoing investigation.

The other hospital ransomware hit that took place last week was DeKalb Health.  It is unreported if DeKalb paid the ransom amount.
