No More Windows 8 Tiles

The Microsoft Princess points us to a ‘little secret’ built into the Windows 8.1 task bar.– PC Pitstop

With the launch of Windows 8, many people missed their traditional start button known for so many years. And with the launch of Windows 8.1 out later this year, there’s a little secret built into the task bar: disabling the tile start screen upon sign in!

In the desktop view, you’ll be able to right-click the taskbar and select the screen you prefer to start on. It includes signing in and viewing the desktop, viewing the app screen full of programs, and then traditional Windows 8 tile screen. If you select to show the desktop, the start button in its native place will still refer you to the tile screen when you click on it. But you no longer have to look at it and click the desktop tile when you sign in.
