When do we collect your information?

We collect your information when you license and use our software, interact with portions of our website, blogs, support center, and when you communicate with us via email.

The Information that we collect

Account information: PC Matic, Inc. software applications require an account to license and use. Depending on the software type, to create an account you enter your name, company position, company name, address, telephone number, mobile number, email address, password, and some basic information as part of the registration or purchase process. PC Matic, Inc. websites, such as blogs or knowledgebases, may require that you create an additional account. This account may include your display name or nickname, and email address.

In some cases, you may use PC Matic, Inc. websites without making an account and perform anonymous testing.

Our third party service providers may use billing information (credit card number and billing address) on our behalf to process orders.

System information: PC Matic, Inc. software applications do not store any personal information (such as the contents of personal documents or web browsing history) stored on a device. In some cases this information may be accessed to provide services that pertain to the software purchased. The data collected from the device includes items such as:

  • System board, BIOS, CPU, video, and memory configuration
  • Disk drives, disk controllers, and installed hardware
  • System name, operating system version, IP address and browser type
  • System status such as CPU load and available disk space
  • Programs running during testing
  • Software or Applications installed on your device

Security Information: In order to provide accurate services, PC Matic, Inc. software may store an application and information relating to: application name, vendor name, digital signature, malicious URL, file hash, file path, file size, command line arguments, and execution information. With respect to the exceptions below, non-anonymized information is never made available to, sold, or shared with a third party outside of PC Matic, Inc.

Cookies: PC Matic, Inc. software applications and websites use cookies on the site to provide memory of your session and if you requested for convenience items such as remembering your login information.

Android: PC Matic, Inc. software application collects and uploads users information about the Installed Applications on each Android device in order to provide accurate services. PC Matic does not share this information with any third parties, and only trasmits it back to our own servers. By using our Android application, you consent to PC Matic collecting the following information from your device:

  • Installed Applications: PC Matic collects the installed applications on your device and sends it to our API servers to provide information to our malware research team. They can then categorize good and bad files and applications to protect your device from malware.
  • Email Address: PC Matic collects your email address and sends it to our API servers to identify your account and allow you to login to the application.
  • Files & Documents: PC Matic collects information about files and documents on your device and sends it to our API servers to provide information to our malware research team. They can then categorize good and bad files and applications to protect your device from malware.
  • Device ID: PC Matic creates a 'uniqueid' and sends it to our API servers to identify a device associated with your account.
  • Device Information: PC Matic collects information about your Android device including: Device Make, Device Model, and Operating System and sends it to our API servers to identify a device associated with your account.

How we collect your Information

We collect your information directly when you choose to use various websites belonging to PC Matic, Inc. such as commenting on a blog.

We may collect your information using Cookies. Cookies help us to analyze traffic, user activity, administer our website, and aggregate information about our user base as a whole. You can always change your browser options to no longer accept Cookies from certain websites, although this may hinder your access to certain portions of our websites and services.

We collect your information through the use of our software, which transfers information between your computers that run the software and our servers. This is a necessary component for the software to function, and to verify your license status.

How we use your Information & Our Data Integrity Pledge

With respect to the exceptions below, PC Matic, Inc. does not share or sell your personal information to third parties.

Information transfer: PC Matic, Inc. is based in the U.S. and the information we collect is governed by U.S. law. PC Matic, Inc. processes information on servers in the United States of America. Your information may be transferred to, and used, in locations outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the privacy laws may be different than those in your jurisdiction.

Account information: The personal information that you voluntarily give us (name and email address) is kept strictly confidential, and will not be sold or made available outside of PC Matic, Inc. PC Matic will never distribute, directly or indirectly via advertising, your personal information. When you create or change your account, we will send a message to the email address confirming the changes made and options you have chosen. PC Matic, Inc. periodically distributes an email newsletter, and you choose whether you want to receive a newsletter from us when you create your account. System information: The information we collect about your device is stored in our database, analyzed, then presented to you in summary and detailed reports, along with any tips that you can implement to improve system performance and security.

As part of our market research model, we collect aggregate information about all of the devices tested. This data is derived directly from the PC Matic, Inc. data collection described above. During this process, your anonymity will be 100% protected. We only look at trends in totality, not at the individual level.

The personal information that we store as outlined above will be kept as long as necessary for business operations and then securely destroyed or anonymised.

Exceptions

Cookies: To be able to remember your device’s test results as you use our site and software, we use cookies. PC Matic, Inc. does not use cookies to track devices in locations outside our site. No personal information is collected through the use of PC Matic, Inc. cookies. You must accept some cookies for the site to work, but others are optional.

Google: Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google. Google utilizes the data collected to track and examine the use of our websites, to prepare reports on its activities and share them with other Google services. Third Party Service Providers: We may use third party service providers to help us administer and provide our services. Your personal information may be accessible to these third parties but they are contractually obligated to not to disclose or use your information outside of our business relationship. These services may cover: payment and order processing, marketing and email communications, cloud computing infrastructure, research and analysis, performing services on our behalf and providing customer service.

Business Transactions: Information that we collect from our users, stated above, is considered an asset of our business. If PC Matic, Inc. was acquired during a merger or acquisition your personal information may be shared or transferred to the third party that made the transaction. We will notify all customers via our website and via email if any change in ownership occurred and how that affects your personal information.

Government/Law Enforcement: We may disclose personal information to government agencies, law enforcement officials, and private parties as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary: to satisfy or comply with any applicable law, regulation or legal process; to respond to lawful requests, including subpoenas, warrants or court orders; to protect our property, rights and safety and the rights, property and safety of third parties or the public in general; and to prevent or stop activity we consider to be illegal or unethical.

In certain situations, PC Matic, Inc. may be required to disclose personal data in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.

Our Commitment to Data Security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. PC Matic customer information and data collected from such customers is kept strictly confidential, and will never be sold or distributed, directly or indirectly via advertising.

If you prefer to not receive emails from PC Matic, Inc about our products or services, please follow the steps below:

  2. Enter the email that PC Matic, Inc's emails are being delivered to.
  3. Under current subscriptions - Uncheck the box next to the email you no longer wish to receive AND click submit.

Account information: When you have created an account, you can access to review all your personally identifiable information that we collect at any time.

If you have forgotten your password, we provide a mechanism that emails you a password reset link. Since the "forgot my password" feature sends your password reset to the email address that you used for registration, do not use an email address that can be accessed by others that you would not want to see or change your PC Matic, Inc. account information.

Your Rights

Users that reside in certain countries or states, including California (CCPA), and the EU (GDPR), are afforded certain rights regarding their personal information. Except where an exception or exemption applies, these rights include the ability to access, correct, restrict, and request deletion of your personal information. These rights are not applicable globally, however all PC Matic, Inc. users can manage and correct their personal information from their various account pages. See the above section on “How can you access or correct your information?”

Where applicable, at your request, we will inform you what personal data we have stored about you. Should we ever have false data about you stored, despite our efforts to only store accurate and current data, we will correct it promptly upon recognition or at your request. In case you want us to delete your personal data or revoke consent granted for certain processing of your personal data, please contact us using the method below.

Other Privacy Considerations

Children's Privacy: Our Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.

Links: Our websites may contain links to third party sites or services. If you provide information directly to a website or service that information is subject to that party’s privacy policy. If you are located outside Taiwan and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to Taiwan and process it there.

RIO will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of your Personal Data will take place to an organization or a country unless there are adequate controls in place including the security of your data and other personal information.
